Extensive Project and Performance Audit for a Pet Products Retailer
Highlights
A major pet products company faced serious IT security risks associated with an outdated version of their current platform. The main objective was to launch a high performance marketplace for the sale of petcare categories. Our team was responsible for a comprehensive audit and optimization of the IT infrastructure. We worked on redesigning and improving the UI/UX, enhancing security, and integrating with key ecosystems.
Duration
14 weeks (from brief to launch)
Team
Our team in cooperation with client's internal IT specialists and integrators
Using an outdated platform led to outages, potential data breaches, and additional support costs. The client's existing infrastructure could not handle the flow of 50,000 users per day, resulting in slowdowns and lost revenue.
Complex integrations with ERP, marketing tools, and new systems (CDP, CPA, mobile app) required seamless operations. Making changes depended on developer availability, which also slowed down the client's business process.
Solution
We began with a detailed audit of the client's current infrastructure and codebase. This included analyzing server configurations, identifying bottlenecks in SQL queries, and evaluating the overall architecture. We provided actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.
Based on the audit findings, we restructured the IT infrastructure to optimize performance. This involved upgrading server configurations, optimizing database queries, and implementing caching mechanisms. We also configured load balancers to distribute traffic efficiently.
To ensure the system could handle peak loads, we conducted extensive load testing. By simulating various traffic scenarios, we identified potential weak points and optimized the system's response to high loads. This helped us to ensure stability and performance during peak times.
We implemented continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline the development and deployment processes. This allowed for faster and more reliable software updates, reducing downtime and enhancing system reliability. Automated monitoring and alerting systems were also set up to detect and respond to issues promptly.
We provided ongoing server maintenance services to ensure the infrastructure remained robust and secure. Regular updates, security patches, and performance optimizations were carried out to keep the system running smoothly.
Page load time was reduced to 1.5-3.4 seconds, stable performance was ensured with 50 thousand users per day (99.8% uptime)
Security has been improved: we have fixed critical vulnerabilities and implemented data protection standards
Marketplace integration with mobile application increased traffic from mobile devices up to 70%. Processes for sellers—products upload, order managment—also been simplified
The platform has gained the necessary flexibility in process launch. Now the client can run A/B tests and promotions without the need for developer’s support
Marketing tools received the necessary automation. Setting up personalized recommendations and notifications increased conversion rates, and connecting to affiliate networks led to new traffic
Marketplace platform became the foundation for further business scaling for our client
